Goals

"I want to become" Statement

There are many things I want to become but, as of right now, I want to become someone who doesn’t procrastinate, manages their time well, and is more involved on campus and within the community. These things will help me achieve my goal of excelling academically and building connections.

Academically, I want to become someone who doesn’t procrastinate. I currently am a terrible procrastinator that waits until the last minute to get things done. I want to have a drive to get things done early, so that I can give everything my best effort. I want to have a set time each day for all my classes, so I am not working on one more than the other. I tend to prioritize a class if there is something big happening, like a test or paper that has a large impact on my grade, and the other classes get pushed off to the side until that is done. Since I procrastinate so much, I have no option but to focus just on that one thing. I end up running out of time, leaving me no option. However, I want to become somebody who manages their time well. Somebody who starts early enough so that they can work on it a little bit here and a little bit there. If I could become a person who doesn’t procrastinate and can manage their time better, I believe this would help me to excel academically and alleviate unnecessary stress.

Outside of academics, I want to be involved in more. More clubs, volunteering, internships, or just going to more events that are happening on campus. I am currently involved in Jagathon, but I feel like I need to do more to become who I want to be. I want to be involved more on campus and within the community so that I can make new connections, have new experiences, and learn new skills that all could help me later in my career. Involvement is something that gives you invaluable experiences that you can learn from. Also, they let you strengthen and practice your skills you already have, along with teaching you new ones. These are the skills that will be carried with you for the rest of your career and used every day.

Overall, I want to become someone who doesn’t procrastinate their schoolwork, manages their time well, and is more involved on campus and within the community. These things will give me invaluable experiences, help build my character, and teach me necessary skills that I can transfer into my professional career.

Reflection:

This reflection of who I want to become has allowed me to identify the specific qualities I want to embody in the future. It has allowed me to create achievable goals to strive for, and these goals have helped me pave my way to my ultimate end goal of being a nurse.

Reflection:

Creating this journey map of my life has allowed me to identify how I have got to where I am now, by identifying specific important events. It has allowed me to really reflect on events that I see as important in my life, and how they have contributed to my overall journey. It has also allowed me to create somewhat of a plan or ideas for my future. I realize that this is something I will be adding to my whole life, as I go on my journey.
